It has been awhile since I updated here. So much has been happening. Though the doors closed somewhat in Kherson they opened wide in Odessa. We have now been blessed with two partners on site, Michelle Maly and Lisa Gootee. We are very excited to have them become a part of our family. They are doing so much for the Kingdom of God.
We have also been seeing doors open in Kiev, Ukraine and St. Petersburg, Russia. My good friend Peter Billingham has resigned his ministry in Bromsgrove, England and is now in charge of expanding Christian radio into Ukraine and Russia with a media corporation. They have just purchased a beautiful building in Kiev and plan to bring on about 40 staff.
Peter still has a heart for the street kids. He is the guy that hiked the Himalyans and raised $25,000 for the kids. His hope is to broadcast some interviews and highlight ministries working with kids. In March Peter and I are hoping to travel to Moscow and St. Petersburg to scope out his and my ministries.
Shepherd's Purse has been in touch with Project Hope in St. Petersburg for a few years now but never really connected well. See their video on the home page. Esther McCaulley from Marion, Indiana is the founder and has recently retired turning over the ministry to her friends in country. Vera is the new director and we have been getting to know her. I am meeting with Marion and Bob in a couple of weeks and we are excited by future prospects.
The good news is that a Swiss Christian businessman has just purchased a very nice building in St. Petersburg and turned it into a Christian orphanage. He has also donated space to Project Hope's street kid ministry. Now we can support both this orphanage and and the street kid ministry. Pray about these meetings that if God wants to knit our hearts and ministries it will be very clear.
More good news is that my youngest daughter Megin is our new accountant. She and Josh, our son-in-law, live in the Atlanta area. Josh is becoming our video DVD promotions guy. They have both traveled with us to Ukraine and both are now board members.
We have also had someone just contact us about becoming our projects manager.
We also are connected to Skype with video so if you want to talk face-to-face. This is a wonderful medium and allows us to keep in contact with our partners like Pat Joy in Kiev area and Michelle and Lisa in Odessa -- for free!
Although I am grieving not going to Ukraine for Christmas this year...I am excited for a sabbatical to work on our book about the street kids. Please pray for our ministry and if you have been a distant observer for a few years why not become a financial supporter? For almost five years I have donated 30-40 hours per week with no paycheck from Shepherd's Purse. I only do it because I have the Father's heart for the kids. Please join us in this journey.
