Christmas in Ukraine January 11th
Christmas in Ukraine.  Michael Wetzel is headed over in January to once again buy presents for up to 300 orphans.   If you can help...we need it!    God has opened the doors and up to five orphanages and one street kid center are looking forward to our visit.  I don't want to disappoint them and we never have in the past.  Please pray for God moments, safe travels, and provision.
With Deep Sorrow

It is with very deep regret that we tell you that former Project Coordinator, board member, and very good friend,  David Hendrix passed away suddenly on 11/14/11 from a heart attack.

David and Nanci live in West Point, Georgia, the new home of Point University (formerly Atlanta Christian College). David was a pastor and college professor; he participated in Shepherd's Purse mission trips to Haiti, Russia and Ukraine. Nanci is a children's library program director and has traveled through-out Europe.  David and Nanci have been friends with Michael and Shirley Wetzel since meeting the Wetzels in 1994.

David and Nanci were just kicking off the Shepherd's Purse South Region and the PORT program (Post Orphanage Resource Teams).   David had a heart for the 16 year olds who are graduated from orphanages and caught up in sex slave trade, prostitution, prison and suicide.  David's heart will live on with us.

David Hendrix Memorial Fund

A memorial fund has been set up in honor of our good friend.  Send checks to Shepherd's Purse, P.O. Box 1291, East Lansing, MI 48826  Make checks out to: Shepherd's Purse (note for memorial fund),  or use secure PayPal here on our site.

We will track and notify the family of all donations.  Be assured the donations are going to be used to honor David's memory in some way.  David and I had been praying to buy a house for sixteen year olds as a temporary shelter.  We will see what develops with that. If enough funds come in we are going to call the first home,

"David's House".

In a time of darkness God shows Michael His heart and vision for the forgotten children.  Living in the darkness of a world void of love and protection, these children break the heart of the Father.   Order your copy here. Make an $11 donation and all profits go back to help the kids.

A review on Amazon.com states:

Reading "For the forgotten ones" many times brought tears to my eyes both for the plight of the children but also for the commitment and perseverance towards a vision and a dream of bringing about change in the world. At many times the thought that something had died would have stopped many people in their tracks, but not Michael. It is a great read, inspiring, uplifting and encouraging - keep working to bring change to these special children."

June 1011 Ukraine Trip

Kramatorsk, Ukraine was another great trip.   Eight team members spent five days running a camp for thirty-eight kids.  Pastor Yuri sponsored us at his church where for five hours each day we prepared, prayed, and programmed.  There were forty minute sessions for: worship songs, crafts, teaching time, and sports activities.   By the end of the week kids and adults were fast friends and hated to say goodbyes.
